Starting from 2017, Bulgarian medical universities have introduced an admission test in Biology and Chemistry. In addition, admission to some medical schools in Bulgaria requires applicants to sit a test in English in order to prove advanced English skills. As all lectures will be in English, these skills are highly necessary. In comparison, other medical universities in Bulgaria accept English certificates, e.g. TOEFL and IELTS.

Furthermore, applicants are required to have grades in Biology and Chemistry in their high-school diploma. The grades must be above 62 percent.
